microPledge pre-launch!

Pre-launchIt’s what you’ve all been waiting for. :-) After being 95% done for the last three weeks, we’re finally ready to rumble.

Go there and try it out now.

This fully operational battlestation website was invite-only, but it’s not anymore. “Pre-launch” means that we haven’t done as much PR as we want to yet. :-) So have fun!

The pre-FAQ

What can I do on the pre-launch site? This is no half-pie launch. It’s the real thing. Stuff you do now stays — so sign up, have a look around, and add your projects. You may want make a seed pledge to your own projects. If you’ve got existing projects hosted elsewhere that need funding, put them on microPledge to allow easy pledges or donations.

What is microPledge? The big buzz-phase is “collaborative funding”. But basically it’s a website that will get people together to get software made. Imagine … what if 1000 people around the world need a product, and each person pledges $5 for it? You get a happy developer who pockets the $5000. And quality software.

What are some of your cool projects? More projects are going up all the time, but here’s a few so far: Better File-Upload Plugin, Thunderbird Addressing Plugin, and a Simple Accounting Package.

When will you go public? As soon as we have a good number of projects. In other words, you’re in charge of this one. Help the process along by emailing your friends the link to this blog entry.

In short: sign up and add your projects now! :-)
